Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 12, 2026

Thrifted & True respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have. We keep it as straightforward as possible — no legal jargon designed to confuse you into agreeing to things you wouldn't otherwise accept.

One thing up front, because it matters: We do not sell your personal information. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. Thrifted & True operates without sponsors, without affiliate links, and without the kind of tracking that follows you around the internet. If that ever changes, we'll tell you before it happens.

Information We Collect

Information You Give Us

When you subscribe to our newsletter, submit a comment, or contact us through a form, we collect whatever you choose to provide — typically your name and email address, plus the content of your message.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit thriftedandtrue.com, our systems automatically log standard technical information: your IP address, browser type, operating system, the pages you visit, how long you stay, and which site referred you here. This is standard practice for nearly every website on the internet.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies — small text files stored on your device — for two purposes: to keep the site functioning properly, and to understand how people use it so we can make it better. We use both session cookies (which disappear when you close your browser) and persistent cookies (which stick around for a while so we can recognize you on return visits).

You can disable cookies through your browser settings. The site will still work, though some features may behave differently.

Analytics Services

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use this site. Google Analytics collects information including your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit, and how long you spend on each page. This data is aggregated and anonymized — we can see that a hundred people read our post about flea market rules, but we can't identify who they are.

Google retains analytics data according to its own policies. If you want to opt out of Google Analytics entirely, Google provides a browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

We do not use Facebook Pixel, advertising retargeting, or any tracking technology designed to follow you across other websites.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Deliver and improve the content on this site

  • Send you our newsletter, if you've subscribed

  • Respond to your questions, comments, and feedback

  • Understand which posts people actually read so we can write more of what's useful

  • Fix technical problems when something breaks

  • Comply with legal obligations

Third-Party Sharing

We share your information only when we have to:

Service Providers: We work with a small number of companies that help us operate this site — including our email newsletter platform, our website host, and Google Analytics. These providers are contractually obligated to use your information only for the services we've hired them to perform.

Legal Requirements: We will disclose information if required by law, such as in response to a court order or subpoena.

Business Transfers: If Thrifted & True is ever acquired or merged with another entity, your information may transfer as part of that transaction. If that happens, we'll notify you here.

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal information for anyone else's marketing purposes.

How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep your information only as long as it's needed. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we keep your email address until you unsubscribe. If you contact us through a form, we keep the correspondence long enough to respond and resolve your inquiry. Analytics data is retained according to Google's standard policies.

When you ask us to delete your information, we will — unless we're legally required to keep it.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:

Access and Correction: You can ask us what personal information we hold about you and ask us to fix it if it's wrong.

Deletion: You can ask us to delete your personal information. We'll do it unless the law requires us to keep it.

Opt-Out of Communications: Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link. Click it, and you're out — immediately, no questions asked.

Cookie Preferences: Control cookies through your browser settings.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We'll respond within 30 days.

California Privacy Rights

If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you specific rights:

  • The right to know what personal information we collect, use, and share

  • The right to request deletion of your personal information

  • The right to opt out of the sale of your personal information (though we don't sell it in the first place)

  • The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

To make a CCPA request, email [email protected]. We may ask you to verify your identity before fulfilling your request.

Children's Privacy

Thrifted & True is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn we've accidentally collected information from a child under 13, we'll delete it. If you believe that's happened, please contact us immediately.

International Visitors

Thrifted & True is based in the United States and our servers are located here. If you visit from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using this site, you consent to that transfer.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information — including SSL encryption, secure hosting, and limiting access to personal data to those who need it. That said, no website can guarantee absolute security. You should keep any passwords or account credentials confidential.

Links to Other Websites

Some posts on Thrifted & True link to other websites — flea markets, thrift stores, reference sources, the occasional article we're responding to. We don't control those sites and can't be responsible for their privacy practices. If you click a link, check the destination site's privacy policy before sharing your information.

Changes to This Policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the Effective Date at the top and post the revised version here. If the changes are material, we'll add a notice on the homepage or include it in our newsletter. Your continued use of the site after any changes means you accept the updated policy.
